STEP 1. Be Wise to Size
Some photographs lend themselves to being drawn as a panoramic artwork, some to being great big works of art, and others to nostalgic decorations.
Do you have in mind where your picture is to be hung? Be certain to keep things in dimension.
Just try to visualise the frame width and mattboard as this will give you the finished hanging size.

"Do you have some of those photographs in your collection?
Everyone has those photographs.. those suprisingly beautiful photos that an album just doesn't do it justice...
Or those many memorable pictures that are just using up space on your hard drive...
Why not turn them into artwork to be admired by friends and family?!
It’s easy. Just send me your copies and I can reproduce them in any size. I can even edit or add things if you prefer."

STEP 2. A Precoat
In this step I coat the paper with a special paint that alows the pastel to adhear to. This also gives the paper substance and stability.
I love this medium as it makes the colors dense and vibrant. This way I also have an outline of the whole picture which also helps to keep things in dimension.
STEP 3. Adding Bulk Color
When you look at a photograph long enough you will see colours you will not expect. Or maybe its just me.. but there are so many colours that compliment each other.
In this step it is easier to lay down all the colours before the detail.
I start at the top with the sky and work my way down to the bottom of the page to avoid smudging.

STEP 4. Detail
They say the devil is in the detail.. this is the most important step and could make or break the picture.
Foreground is particularly important as the viewers eyes are automatically drawn to that area.
The added advantage of a customised artwork, details can be removed and added to the drawing as you prefer.
